Sheena Urwin

Durham Constabulary: Head of Criminal Justice

Sheena Urwin is the Head of Criminal Justice in Durham Constabulary. The role includes all matters pertaining to the presentation of criminal cases to the Crown Prosecution Service ranging from serious and organised crime, volume crime through to road traffic matters; the resulting Criminal Procedures and Investigation Act disclosure compliance; and the victims and witness care aspects of prosecution cases. She is also the staff officer to the National Police Chief Council Case Quality portfolio, and as such is involved in setting national standards relating to criminal cases and engaging with forces across England and Wales. Partnership working with Her Majesty Courts and Tribunal Service, the Judiciary and the Crown Prosecution Service feature as a significant part of both the Head of Criminal Justice and National Police Chief Council portfolio roles.

Sheena has worked in policing for 30 years, across three different police forces during that time –Northumbria Police, the Metropolitan Police Service and currently Durham Constabulary. Sheena’s roles have included working within criminal justice arena and Professional Standards reactive complaints investigation. Sheena has recently conducted research and completed a Masters’ degree with the University of Cambridge.
