Dr. Birgit Schneider-Bönninger
Department of Cultural Affairs Stuttgart: Director, Department of Cultural Affairs Stuttgart
Dr. Birgit Schneider-Bönninger was born in Kamen, Germany and studied modern history, political science and journalism at the Wilhelms University in Munster where she earned a doctoral degree in the field of municipal science.
Having completed her traineeship she worked for 14 years developing innovative cultural projects which were nationally recognised for their pacesetting role. An exemplary application is the monumental project „Die Wolfsburg Saga”, which depicts the history of Wolfsburg as a vision of the future. Since 2014 she is Head of the Department of Cultural Affairs in Stuttgart.
With the idea of Futurelab Culture she has undertaken one of the most visionary projects in the field of German municipal administration. Together with artists the project creates prototyping models within the framework of a collaborative think-tank.
Cultural Future Studies are implemented as thinking tools and considered to be an important part of the educational process. Keeping with the motto „Culture 4.0“ digital transformation is actively pursued und a creative interaction between man and machine is initiated. The Department of Cultural Affairs sees itself as an interface, a driving force and indeed a corrective for technological transgressions and strives to conceive a utopia of „digilog“ for a mature and responsible society.
