DEEP DIVE CHINA: What are the key drivers of global development planning?

China is going to be the country we focus on the most at the 18th Future Congress. It's no coincidence that the global technology scene is turning its attention to China. It is considered likely that Chinese developers have already overtaken Silicon Valley in the future technologies "artificial intelligence" and "genetics". Or at least they are just about to do so. The global trade war with the USA and the extensive shopping tour of Chinese investors among German SMEs are only two signs of the coming change of guard at the top of the world economy.

But what will an economic order look like in 2029 under Chinese leadership? What effects will this have on German companies, German managers and the German economy? In a DEEP DIVE CHINA on June 4, 2019, parallel to the other congress program, the 18th Future Congress of the 2b AHEAD ThinkTank will debate the effects of the rapidly growing Chinese influence on our companies and recommend concrete strategies to its participants to manage the opportunities for benefits and risks.

THE INTELLIGENCE TECHNOLOGY ROADMAP 2029

In the coming years, intelligence will become the most important driver of economic and social development. Mostly artificial intelligence. It is changing our everyday lives ever more rapidly. The error gap between the linear prediction of the future of human intelligence and the exponential reality of artificial intelligence is widening all the time. But the business models of 2029 will undoubtedly determine those actors who are driving the dynamics of the rapid increase in intelligence and who also have so much power that others will have to follow them.

Host and futurologist Sven Gábor Jánszky welcomes the congress participants and presents the technology roadmaps up to 2029 in the opening panel. Strategy and technology executives from major key industries will debate what technology roadmaps they are pursuing and how we need to adapt our companies' business models over the next ten years.

TOMORROWING CHINA

For most top managers in the European economy, China is still a mysterious place of incomprehension. The wheel of supposedly self-confirming prejudices continues to turn: From the gigantic cities, the gigantic sales market and the gigantically cheap workers to the gigantic human rights violations, the social score system and environmental sins to the gigantic money supply, the gigantic influence on Africa and the gigantic economic war with the USA. From a European point of view, China is above all gigantic. This scares a lot of people. Of course, every manager knows that China is already the technology leader in some of the key technologies of the future. And the trade war with the USA also testifies today to the imminent change of power at the top of the world economy.

But what will an economic order look like in 2029 under Chinese leadership? What are the Chinese's goals? How do Chinese and European cultures get along in terms of shareholders and employment relationships? How can liberal companies deal with China's planned economy and political influence? And what effects will this development have on German SMEs, our corporations, German managers and the German economy by 2029? This panel is the panel of China understanders! It takes an unbiased look at the Chinese economy and looks for opportunities for European companies.

Speaker:

Jie Lin Vice President TMRW ASIA

Yipeng Sun European Director Infervision

2:45 – 3:15 p.m. | Keynote

THE RE-DEFINITION OF INTELLIGENCE … and how it changes the world

Let's be honest: Humanity is not even intelligent enough to understand what intelligence actually is. And the augurs are already rumbling that we will soon be replaced as the most intelligent species in the world? Understandably, the majority of homo sapiens are tempted to reinterpret artificial intelligence: It is a second-class intelligence because, despite its cognitive excellence, it lacks social and emotional intelligence. But what if these attempts at intellectual rescue fail? What if human intelligence creates a new kind of intelligence that is superhuman? What would it look like? What can and can't it do? And who is currently building it?

This keynote outlines the development of intelligence up to 2029 and beyond. What is intelligence? And what will the world look like when there is more of it? It will question your beliefs about your own me.

Speaker:

Toby Walsh UNSW Sydney KI Forscher

ENTREPRENEURSHIP – THE BUSINESS MODELS OF THE FUTURE

Five hand-picked founders of successful organizations will present their business ideas competitively at the elevator pitch. Each has exactly two minutes to convince the audience of the merits of his or her business model. An expert jury will rate the pitches. The winner will then be honored with the 2b AHEAD Future Award that evening. Additionally, congress participants and venture capitalists will be given the opportunity to meet with the presenters. The business models pitched at the congress are chosen using a nationwide invitation among entrepreneurial initiatives.

4:30 – 5:00 p.m. | Keynote

A COSMOS OF HUMANS – The Next Geographical Step

What will people's greatest fears be in 2029? It will probably not be the fear of unemployment in a time of full employment in Germany. We futurologists predict the fear of losing significance will rank among the top 3. What is meant is the loss of significance of the human being compared to the new super intelligences. Two counter-strategies of humans are already recognizable today: Some declare fatalistically the competition for the intelligence sovereignty over computers already as lost and want to prevent the emergence of supercomputers. But the others regard technological development as a logical intermediate step of natural evolution. They try to connect their bodies with the intelligence of computers.

This keynote describes man's attempt to help shape evolution. It sketches his quest for the preservation of meaning. And it outlines the opportunities for the human brain to connect with more intelligent systems in order to keep up with the battle of intelligences in the coming decade.

HOW SHANGHAI, HANGZHOU AND SHENZHEN ARE TOMORROWING THE GLOBAL STARTUP ECONOMY

The global world of start-ups and investors is currently murmuring. Some people are painting the end of Silicon Valley on the wall in gloomy colors if it is to be replaced in the coming years by the Chinese start-up centers Shanghai, Hangzhou and Shenzhen: More money, more people and more brains are available there ... and of course a gigantic market for new customers. Many consider it likely that Chinese developers have already overtaken Silicon Valley in the future technologies "artificial intelligence" and "genetics". Or at least they are about to do so.

Speaker:

Martin Gothe Founder & CEO J.A.M Universal

Steve Uhlig Manager International Business Development DC-Hub

This panel presents some of the influential players in the Chinese start-up scene. Above all, it discusses the opportunities for European founders, investors and companies who see no new, uncontrollable competition in the growth of the Chinese start-up scene, but rather an opportunity for a better world with smarter technology.
